The beauty of Bogos

It’s that time of the season! The time when all of us Doterra lovers watch our email and wonder “What is Bogo Week going to bring this time?” i love my Bogo weeks because it’s a great time to get the oils I know I’ll use and maybe in the process I’ll discover the joys of a new favorite oil in the process.

I’ll admit that not all bogos are created equal. There have been a few weeks when there’s been little that peeks my interest. That might not be what I’m supposed to say, but then I prefer open honesty.

This time, Doterra has put together some great pairings. They’re especially great because the oils and supplements they’ve paired can be used together in effective ways. While I’m not able to write as in-depth of a blog post as I’d like, here are a few things about the products and how I use them.

Onguard and Breathe

Seasonal threats… we all deal with them. We get exposed to something someone kindly passed along and we start to feel like crap. Thank goodness for On Guard and Breathe. these oils are great to use while you’re feeling healthy as a way of protecting yourself, but they’re equally great once you don”t feel so great. Onguard is great for supporting the immune system. It smells like fall with its blend of Wild orange, Clove, Cinnamon and Eucalyptus. It can be used aromatically, diluted and used topically or used internally. Breathe supports the resporatory system and gives the feeling of clearer, easier breathing. Breathe can only be used aromatically and topically. I use them together in my diffuser or apply them to my chest or the bottoms of my feet in the case of on guard.

Copaiba Softgels and Onguard Capsules

I’ve already blogged about Copaiba in depth, but it’s one of my favorite and most used oils. The softgels are incredibly portable and convenient! To give a few ideas of times when I use them, they’re great at supporting the nervous system, cardiovascular system and immune system. I find they promote a sense of calm and can decrease discomfort. The Onguard softgels contain the blend of oils I described above, but they also contain oregano and Melissa which can support the nervous system along with other benefits.

Lavender and Peppermint

This is where many people start their essential oil journey. Lavender is known to promote a calm, restful atmosphere, but it does a lot more than that. it’s been researched for pain relief and I personal love lavender for its skin-related benefits. Peppermint is known for it’s ability to soothe occasional stomach upset. I like to blend it with lavender and eucalyptus to ease occasional head tension. You’ll also see peppermint and lavender as part of Doterra’s Triease softgels for dealing with environmental threats in the spring.

Vanilla and Roman Chamomile

When Doterra brought out Vanilla a couple years ago, I was thrilled. I love the smell of vanilla because it’s incredibly comforting to me. It promotes a tranquil atmosphere and makes almost any blend smell even better. I love it with citrus, floral or spice oils. This fall, I’ve blended it with cinnamon and clove to make my apartment smell great. Roman Chamomile is known for its use in chamomile tea which many people find calming. It’s a great addition to a skin care routine in a cleanser or moisturizer because it can be soothing. It smells great and would blend well with lavender or vanilla or both. these two oils can be used aromatically, topically or internally.

Adaptiv Capsules and Balance

These two products are ones I wouldn’t like to be separated from either. The Adaptiv Calming Capsules don’t contain the Adaptiv oil blend since that cannot be used internally. Both do contain Lavender and Wild Orange, but there the similarities end. I don’t want to dig very deeply into them because Doterra’s web site does a great job on its own and honestly I’ll probably make a blog post of its own about Adaptiv some time. Balance grounding blend can be used aromatically, and topically. It has many floral and tree oils. Basically, you can think of floral oils as soothing oils and tree oils as grounding oils. I like to use Balance on the bottoms of my feet to start my day in a calmer frame of mind and also at bedtime to help ground myself and get my mind to slow down. I’ll mention here that when I’m feeling very tense, I like to pair the Adaptiv capsules, Balance oil and Copaiba oil or softgels.

If you’ve been reading my posts for a while and thought “I’d like to try oils sometime”, this is a great time to do it. I can honestly say that I use all of these oils pretty regularly, at least once a week and for many, I’d say daily. Buying one product and getting one free is a nice intro to Doterra… it’s how Doterra and I started our friendship and the friendship has changed my life!
