What motivates you?
I don’t usually pay attention to the prompts WordPress posts for us bloggers everyday, and when I do, there’s never a prompt I can answer in this particular blog. I’ve made it a goal to keep this blog more or less focussed on the topics of oils, wellness and possibly books. But this morning, I happened to see the prompt above and I thought it was relevant and decided I’d actually answer the question.
There are two areas related to motivation I’d like to discuss today: first is how I use oils to help motivate myself, but more importantly, the other is what motivates me to be a wellness advocate and continue to use and share oils with others. I’ll discuss using oils for motivation in another post, but right now, we’re going to talk about my motivation for using and sharing oils.
Before I talk about what motivates me as a wellness advocate, let me explain a bit about what a wellness advocate does.In some ways, being a wellness advocate reminds me of what I saw my Mom’s Mary Kay lady do. I can help you figure out which oils might be good to try. I also can help you figure out what the oils you already have can do for you. What I love most is seeing people grow as a user of essential oils. I’ve watched people start to use oils and also figure out ways to use them for things I wouldn’t have thought of. I love pointing people toward resources and seeing them teach me about something I wouldn’t have considered.
- Quality of life. Let’s be real here, CHRONIC PAIN SUCKS! I’ve lived with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome for over half of my life. Words cannot express the hell of this condition and some of the others I deal with. People are often shocked when I say I’d rather be blind than have any of the chronic conditions I also deal with. Before I started using essential oils, I felt pretty much helpless. Pain and the world of medicine were almost all I focussed on. While I could decided if I needed a medication that had been prescribed or not, I couldn’t really try something without a doctor deciding to prescribe it or refer me for treatment with whatever new technique they wanted to try. But when I started using essential oils, I got to make the decisions (within reason). And I started focussing on DIY projects as I learned more. Many people have been pleasantly surprised by the changes in my life. If you want more in depth information, read my first blog post about my journey of healing and transformation.
- Helping others: When you find a good thing, especially if you deal with something rare, it’s worth sharing. Because there aren’t a lot of things that work for CRPS, and sometimes even the few things out there don’t work, it’s important to pool our resources. I just can’t see staying quiet when something is out there that might help someone else’s pain or other challenges.
- sense of purpose: When I graduated from college, I couldn’t go on to get a job like my friends did. Part of it was due to my pain, migraines, depression and other challenges and part of it was because there just weren’t a lot of jobs that fit my degree. Realistically, I don’t have the stamina for a long day at the office. I also wasn’t aware of some of the options out there. While I’m working toward a job as a peer support specialist, doing what I’m doing with Doterra gives me a sense of purpose. It also gives me an answer to that question that’s frequently asked in social situations “What do you do?”
- I hope this post has given you an idea of what motivates me to be a wellness advocate with Doterra. If you’d like help choosing essential oils for any specific use, go to either my Doterra site or my Linktree and contact me. I’d truly love to help you out. I promise not to pressure you or sell you stuff you don’t need. In addition, I’ll be there as a guide to help you use any oils to their fullest potential!
